St. Philip Neri School is open to all children regardless of religion, race, sex, color, nationality, or ethnic origin; however, priority preference will be given to children of the Roman Catholic religion. All rights, privileges, programs, and activities are available to all of our students. St. Philip Neri Catholic School does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national, or ethnic origin, or disability in violation of state law and federal law or regulation in the administration of its educational policies or programs. The information provided in the application process will not be used for any unlawful discriminatory purpose.
Registration does not guarantee the possibility of a place in the school if the school is not able to serve the needs of the student. There is an Individual Needs Committee (INC) to consider student academic concerns as professionally recommended. SPN does make minor adjustments/accommodations for those students who have current educational evaluations.
Policy on Minor Academic Adjustments
St. Philip Neri Catholic School endeavors to provide a quality education for your child. At the same time, St. Philip Neri Catholic School does not offer special education and related services, as defined under federal and Louisiana law. The parents and/or legal guardians of students presently enrolled in St. Philip Neri Catholic School acknowledge that this school does not provide special education or related services or facilities.
Because St. Philip Neri Catholic School does not offer special education and related services, it is not required to make specific accommodations for your child but only what are called “minor adjustments.” St. Philip Neri Catholic School, its principal, faculty, and staff are only required to make minor adjustments in the education program at St. Philip Neri Catholic School in an attempt to promote the educational development of your child/student, and the nature and extent of such minor adjustments are within the sole discretion of the principal of St. Philip Neri Catholic School. In the event that students need adjustments in the classroom, and with the approval of the school, all adjustments need to be agreed upon in writing by the end of September each year, or within 14 days of a meeting of the school’s Individual Needs Committee (INC).
It is expected that students who benefit from minor adjustments are making a diligent effort to do their best work. This includes completing assignments and homework assignments as directed and with sincere effort. Should the principal of St. Philip Neri Catholic School determine in his own discretion that the minor adjustments put in place by the school have not resulted in satisfactory student progress and that it is in the best interest of both the school and the child that he/she be educated in another learning environment, then the principal may ask the parents to withdraw their child/student from St. Philip Neri Catholic School. Alternatively, the principal may disenroll the child/student from St. Philip Neri Catholic School and/or not allow the child to re-enroll for the next school year.
Policy regarding placement of "multiples"
***Please note: TO FOSTER THE OPPORTUNITY FOR STUDENTS TO GROW INDIVIDUALLY IN AN ACADEMIC SETTING, ST. PHILIP NERI SCHOOL TRIES TO SEPARATE “MULTIPLES” (i.e. twins, triplets, etc.) in Middle School (grades 5-7).
